  • What beauty arises out of darkness?

    Perhaps all beauty.

As this painting unfolds, it turns out, there is not one, not two, but three horses which emanate from the black background.

The more time spent in front of the canvas, the more you see the endless nuances and stories that are told within.

The bits and pieces, strokes, and lines that were barely visible become something greater as if they were always there, waiting patiently for you to come, for you to be able to truly open your eyes as to their presence.

This painting began as Collins explored the relationship between Thomas Edison,
Henry Ford and poet and writer John Burroughs. The three would journey together every year on an exploring adventure into the unknown parts of America. They were completely different, did not necessarily get along, but
valued what they learned from one another along the way. They called themselves "The Vagabonds."

As the painting progressed, it morphed into something more beautiful...

...about three that we fail to see, even when they are right before our eyes.

...about having the patience and willingness to learn.

...to realize there is more than the tangible in this beautiful realm.
